Is Your LinkedIn Profile Picture a Selfie?

Is Your LinkedIn Profile Picture a Selfie?

I look at your LinkedIn profile before you come in for an interview. And I am not alone.

Most recruiters and hiring managers do a cursory LinkedIn lookup to prep for an interview. We look at your profile pic and your page to get a sense of who you are.

What does your profile picture say about you?

Is it a selfie taken haphazardly? Hopefully not!

Does it convey confidence? It should.

Is it a professional picture? Preferably, yes.

I’ve seen a few LinkedIn bloopers. Just the other day, I came across a profile picture of a candidate and his dog. People, LinkedIn is a social media site to showcase your professional talents and career brand. Your profile picture should be bright, clear and professional.

You can find a reputable or beginner photographer to take your headshot for about $150 these days. I highly recommend that you get a professional headshot even if you are a recent college grad (psst…ask for it as a graduation gift)

A professional LinkedIn profile picture will go a long way with recruiters and hiring managers.
